Sugarbox Sundries was born in North County San Diego in 2013. We started as a home based business with candy, caramel and custom cookie orders, but that soon expanded and before we knew it, we were elbow deep in frosting and fondant! We’ve been best friends for over a decade and our true passion has always been the sweet stuff. Jenni is the principal cake designer, while Dana maintains order of our accounts, marketing and all finance functions.
What initially drew us to cake making is what always keeps us going; the love we have for seeing how happy you can make someone with a truly special dessert is such a thing of joy, and we wouldn’t trade it for anything. We feel so lucky to continue to be a part of so many special days; milestone birthdays, gender reveals, First Communions, weddings and everything in between.
Every single order is completely custom from start to finish and we welcome your inspirations and ideas. Our ingredients are always of the highest quality and we strive to use fresh, organic and local whenever possible. We think that the small added expense of these choices is more than worth it for the quality and flavor it lends to a truly memorable cake creation. Our flavor choices can be classic to funky and we’re always available to help guide you through choosing the perfect combination.
In order to provide the most exceptional cake possible, we currently cap our wedding cakes at 100 servings. This is to maintain the integrity of our cakes, as well as to mitigate any towering cake disasters that can easily be involved in transporting and setting up cakes at unfamiliar venues. We are happy to supplement with other dessert choices, custom cookies, cupcakes or even sheet cakes for serving additional guests.
Our goal is to delight every client twice; once when they see their custom creation, and once again when they taste it! Too many desserts are heavy on the presentation and fall flat on the taste! We firmly believe that our customers come back to us again and again because they know that they will receive something truly memorable that will also taste delicious. We know in our hearts that this is the job we’re meant to do, and we look forward to continuing to spread the sweetness around!
